GIG HARBOR MAN PLANS SURPRISE TRIP FOR HIS KIDS AFTER WINNING $150,000 HIT 5 JACKPOT
May 9, 2016
A man from Gig Harbor is excited to surprise his two boys with a trip to Disney World after winning a $150,000 Hit 5 jackpot. The winner purchased his ticket at Albertsons (11330 51st Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98332) for the Hit 5 drawing on Saturday, April 23.

“My wife and I were getting ready for bed when I decided to look online for any Hit 5 winners,” said the winner. “When I saw there were two, I scanned my ticket using the Washington’s Lottery app and that’s when I realized I’d won big. I told my wife and she couldn’t believe the news.”

The winner, a local paramedic, told Lottery officials he knows exactly how he wants to spend his prize money. While the family has been to Disneyland, they’ve never been to Disney World. The winner plans to take his family to the Florida theme park for a vacation this year. While there, the family will also stop in Cape Canaveral, Florida to visit the Kennedy Space Center, as one of the winner’s boys has a passion for astronomy.

“We completely surprised our kids with our first trip to Disneyland,” the winner said. “We literally told them to pack their bags and hop in the car. We’re also going to make this trip a surprise since they’ve never been.”

Aside from a family getaway, the winner plans to put the remainder of his prize toward a down payment for a house. After renting for many years, the family is looking forward to have a new house to call their own.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
