Vacation just got better for maintenance worker Edward Geiser. The 60-year-old was already enjoying his well-deserved time off when he ratcheted up the fun meter by winning $10,000 on a Maryland Lottery Neon x20 scratch-off.

The Western Maryland resident works for the Charles E. Smith Company, where he provides maintenance and engineering services for the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. When he hangs up his overalls and has time to relax, Edward said he playsKeno and scratch-offs.

He bought his lucky Neon x20 ticket at Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service located at 5234 River Road in Bethesda. The loyal player picked the $10 game because he won with other instant tickets within the popular Neon family of scratch-offs. The family includes $1, $2 and $5 scratch-offs.

The lucky winner scratched the ticket shortly after its purchase, uncovering winning numbers and lots of zeros. Prizes of varying amounts covered his ticket, adding up to a grand total of $10,000. He shared news of his win with those at the store, receiving congratulations from other players gathered there.
Edward said he also called a co-worker to share the news. He kept the ticket close for the entire ride home, storing it inside his jacket and securing the jacket tightly to his side with his arm.

The $10,000 prize is this loyal player’s largest win to date. He plans to share it with his children and use the money for his son’s tuition and daughter’s auto repairs.
