A regular player of both the Illinois and Missouri lotteries, Wayne Bathon of Ashley, Ill., is the latest winner on the Missouri Lottery’s “Lucky 7s Playbook” Scratchers game.
Bathon, who regularly visits family in the St. Louis area, purchased his Playbook ticket on Jan. 17 after cashing a few other Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets at Westland Travel Center, 10866 Lilac Ave., in St. Louis. Bathon, 58, won his $50,000 prize later that day while watching football with his daughter.
“She was the one who actually scratched the winner,” said the father-of-three. “It was her birthstone (amethyst), so she scratched the numbers, then she started shaking.”
Bathon is planning on celebrating his win with his daughter by purchasing her a new vehicle, in addition to paying bills with the $50,000 prize.
Introduced on March 31, 2014, “Lucky 7s Playbook” is the first Playbook-style Scratchers game offered by the Missouri Lottery. The $20 game includes six Scratchers games and 122 chances to win. The game currently has more than $8 million in total remaining prizes, including two $250,000 top prizes.
