With the close of the WORLD’S LARGEST JACKPOT—the $1.5 Billion Powerball
jackpot game held on January 13, 2016—players in the District like the rest of the country are taking a collective breath and checking their tickets for winners.
The winning numbers for the January 13, 2016 game were 4-8-19-27-34 and the Powerball was 10. Three jackpot winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, and Tennessee respectively. In the District, there were a total of 63,074 winners with this game, including two $50,000 winning tickets. The $50,000 winning tickets were sold at Dave Brown Wine and Liquor in NE and Tenley Market in NW.
“Players win prizes of all sizes with the DC Lottery,” says Tracey Cohen, Interim Executive Director of the DC Lottery. “We’re glad to be a part of this historic jackpot moment. We congratulate the more than 63,000 winners from last night’s game and remind our players that proceeds from the sale of DC Lottery products support District residents and vital programs.”
To win $50,000, a player must match four white balls in any order and the Powerball. Winners of prizes over $5,000 must claim at the DC Lottery’s Prize Center located in the lobby of 2235 Shannon Place, SE. For more information on the claims process, phone 202-645-8000 or see
Powerball is a national jackpot game that is $2 to play and can be purchased in Washington, DC, 44 states, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The game is played twice weekly on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
In 2009, the DC Lottery congratulated its largest jackpot winner to date, a $144 million Powerball top prize winner. In Fiscal Year 2015, the DC Lottery welcomed four new millionaires through jackpot and instant scratcher game wins.
