POWERBALL TICKET WORTH $1.9 MILLION SOLD IN SAN JOSE
January 3, 2016
Here’s a great way to end 2015! One lucky California Lottery player who bought a Powerball ticket in San Jose is $1,900,176 richer this morning after matching five of six numbers in last night’s drawing.
While we still don’t know who the winner is, we do know the winning ticket was sold at The Wine Rack Liquor Store, which is located at 5768 Santa Teresa Blvd. in San Jose.

The winning ticket matched the numbers 12-61-54-38-36, missing only the Powerball number 22. Had the ticket matched the Powerball number, it would have been worth $300 million! Since nobody hit the jackpot, it rolls to $334 million for Saturday night’s drawing.

The California Lottery urges last night’s winner to immediately sign the back of their ticket in ink, keep it in a safe place and visit any of the nine Lottery District Officesduring business hours as soon as possible. The winner has 180 days from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize, otherwise all the money will be redirected to help California public schools.

Powerball is a multistate game played in California (and 43 other states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Tickets sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 22,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Powerball site for more information on how to play.

The California Lottery is a $5.5 billion enterprise based in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the State’s General Fund. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. In FY 2014-15, the Lottery created 100 new millionaires. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation. The California Lottery urges its customers to play responsibly and within their budgets. If you feel you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, you can get help at 1-800-GAMBLER.
