Pamela Campany from Brownville is New York’s newest Lottery millionaire. The 50-year-old woman scratched off the $1,000,000 combination on the Lottery’s popular Cash X60 scratch-off ticket at her dinner table with her husband.
“I stopped into the Stewart’s and picked the Cash X60 ticket because I had won some money on it before,” explained Campany. “I brought it home and scratched it at the dinner table with my husband Kenneth.”
“She flipped out when she realized she won $1,000,000,” recalled Kenneth. “I just kept jumping up and down screaming ‘I won, I won,’” she added.
Campany purchased her life changing ticket at the Stewart’s Shops on West Main Street. She opted to receive her $1,000,000 prize as a one-time lump sum payment, netting her $555,912 after required withholdings.
“I remember being asked why I thought I was the lucky one to win the jackpot,” recalled Campany. “Why not me? I believe it was just meant to be.”
Campany and her husband were quick to agree on how they will spend their winnings. “We plan to replace our current home with a new modular home.”
Campany is the New York Lottery’s 131st millionaire of 2015.
The New York Lottery contributed $25,525,177.11 to school districts throughout Jefferson County during fiscal year 2014-2015.
About the New York Lottery
The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.11 billion in fiscal year 2014-2015 to help support education in New York State. The Lottery’s contribution represents 14 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.
New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education. It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
