A trip to his favorite sports bar turned into big money for a Muskegon County man who won a Club Keno The Jack prize from the Michigan Lottery.

Donald “Duck” O’Neil, of Muskegon, won $101,134 when his easy pick The Jack numbers – 18-33-34-36-40-42-68-79 -– matched eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn in draw 1281492 on Wednesday. He bought his winning ticket at Lefty and Romo’s Bar and Grill, located at 1985 Holton Road in Muskegon.

“My buddy and I go to Lefty and Romo’s pretty regularly and we always play Club Keno,” said O’Neil. “We usually play different numbers to see who can win the most.”

O’Neil had to make a solo trip to Lefty and Romo’s on Wednesday because his friend had other commitments.

“While I was at the bar, everything was pretty much like it always is. I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and some food while I played my numbers,” said O’Neil. “I handed the ticket to the bartender and asked her to check and see if I had won. When she told me I had hit The Jack, I was stunned.”

O’Neil’s first phone call was to his absent friend who could barely believe what he was hearing.
“When I called my buddy, he thought I was lying,” said O’Neil. “It took some convincing, but he finally started to believe me.”

O’Neil visited Lottery headquarters Thursday to collect his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to help some family members, get some work done on his house, and boost his retirement account.

“Winning the Lottery is pretty unbelievable. I do wish that my buddy had been with me when I won, though, because I think it’s safe to say I would have won more than him that day,” O’Neil said.

The Jack is a Club Keno add-on game that players may add to their Club Keno wager for as little as $1 per draw. With The Jack, players get eight easy pick numbers to match to the Club Keno numbers drawn. Players may win prizes ranging from $1 to the jackpot. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and grows until it is won. To win the jackpot, players must match all eight numbers.

Club Keno may be played at the 11,000 Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings are every three and a half minutes. Results and live drawings may be found online at
