The Colorado Lottery will award a 2015 Starburst Community Award to the Town of Nucla for using Lottery funds to rejuvenate the Town Park. The project was completed this summer with support from Lottery funds utilizing both $40,000 in Conservation Trust Fund dollars and a $197,666 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO).

The award will be presented at the Town Council meeting on October 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Updates to the Town Park include a splash pad, a pavilion, two playgrounds, resurfaced tennis courts, three pickleball courts, and a six-station fitness course. After saving Conservation Trust Fund distributions for ten years, the town is excited to have an updated park that is inviting and safe, and serves the wider community.

The Colorado Lottery Starburst Community Awards recognize excellence in the use of Lottery proceeds in community projects implemented to enhance a community’s environment.

In FY2015 alone, the Lottery distributed $127.9 million in proceeds. Since its creation 32 years ago, the Lottery has returned more than $2.8 billion back into the state of Colorado.

Lottery proceeds are distributed to three primary beneficiaries: GOCO, Conservation Trust Fund, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. These organizations provide grants and direct funding for parks, recreation, open space acquisition, trails, and wildlife and conservation education.
