MASS. STATE LOTTERY LAUNCHES SUPER 50/50 RAFFLE GAME
October 11, 2012
Game’s jackpot grows with every $10 ticket sold, one winner will take home a “super” cash prize in the New Year’s Day drawing The Massachusetts State Lottery’s newest game, the Super 50/50 Raffle, goes on sale today at all 7,400 Lottery retailers statewide.

The Super 50/50 Raffle operates just like traditional 50/50 raffles that are often offered at sporting events – the jackpot will grow with every ticket sold and one lucky winner will receive exactly half of the game’s total sales.

Super 50/50 Raffle tickets cost $10 each with $5, or 50 percent, directly funding the game’s top prize. Players will be able to get daily updates on the jackpot amount as it grows by logging onto the Lottery’s website, www.masslottery.com.

Players will not select their own raffle number. Each Super 50/50 Raffle ticket bears a unique seven-digit number that is assigned as tickets are sold beginning with ticket number 0000001 and increasing in sequential order until game sales end on December 31 at 11:59 p.m.

On January 1, 2013, a drawing will be conducted to randomly select one winning number in the Super 50/50 Raffle. The owner of the raffle ticket bearing the winning seven-digit number will start 2013 with a super lump sum cash prize. And while the size of the game’s jackpot will ultimately be determined by the number of tickets that are purchased before the game’s New Year’s Day drawing, the Lottery guarantees that the winner will receive a minimum $500,000 prize regardless of how many tickets are sold.

In addition to awarding the Super 50/50 Raffle’s growing jackpot prize, the Lottery will also hold weekly “Wild Raffle Wednesday” bonus drawings to reward players who pick up a raffle ticket early in the game’s sales period. Every Wednesday starting November 7 through December 26, five (5) lucky ticket numbers will be randomly drawn from the pool of tickets sold to-date for a $1,000 bonus prize. A total of 40 $1,000 “Wild Raffle Wednesday” bonus prizes will be awarded leading up to the official Super 50/50 Raffle and all of these tickets will remain eligible for the New Year’s Day drawing.

The winning number in the Super 50/50 Raffle and “Wild Raffle Wednesday” bonus numbers will be posted on the Lottery’s website, masslottery.com and made available at the Lottery’s regional offices. Players can also visit their local Lottery retailers to check if their ticket is a winner. All prizes awarded in the Super 50/50 Raffle will be paid in one-time lump sum amounts. Winning ticket holders will have one year to claim their prizes. Players can learn more about the Super 50/50 Raffle by clicking here or inquiring at their local Lottery retailer.
