ARMY RETIREE TAKES THE CROWN IN QUEEN OF HEARTS GAME
August 14, 2012
Jose Figueroa recently retired from the U.S. Army after 31 years of service. Now the Hopewell man has something extra: $125,000 from the Virginia Lottery. He won the top prize in the Queen of Hearts Scratcher game.

He bought the winning ticket at Miller Mart, 10101 James River Drive in Hopewell.

“When I scratched it, I thought I’d won $30,” he told Virginia Lottery officials as he claimed his prize.

When he realized the ticket was actually worth much more, he texted a photo of the ticket to his wife.
