VALDOSTA WOMAN CLAIMS $52K PRIZE WON IN JUNE
October 14, 2011
Along with the fall foliage, a Valdosta woman now has claimed a Georgia Lottery prize that was won before the summer solstice. Beadie Smith matched five winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the June 4 Win for Life drawing, winning $1,000 a week for a year, totaling $52,000.
Smith recently claimed her prize at the Georgia Lottery’s Tifton District Office.
“There was no particular reason why I didn’t claim,” she explained. “I was busy doing other things.”
Smith, 53, purchased her ticket at RaceTrac #0298, 1 Amlajack Blvd. in Newnan.
Winning numbers from the June 4 Win for Life drawing were: 6-9-11-22-25-28 and the Free Ball was 18.
Smith won using her own lucky combination of family birthdays.
She found out she’d won the day after the drawing while reviewing the results on her laptop.
“I was very surprised,” she recalled.
Smith and her husband, George Rowan, currently do not have immediate plans for their windfall.
