TWO TIMES LUCKY IN PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE
July 18, 2011
Luck struck twice in one week with $125,000 in major lottery prizes being claimed by two separate winners in the city!
It was a PAYDAY Thursday for Portage la Prairie resident Greg Dowhy when he realized he had won $50,000! Greg bought his PAYDAY ticket for the June 2nd draw at Shoppers Drug Mart, 103 Saskatchewan Avenue. He returned to have some tickets checked the day after the draw. The first two tickets were non-winners, but his PAYDAY ticket told a different story.
“I thought it was only $5,000,” recalled Greg. “I became really excited when I found out it was $50,000!”
A few days later, Terrance McDonald scratched a $4 LUCKY LINES SCRATCH ’N WIN ticket he’d purchased from Portage Supermarket at 4020 Saskatchewan Avenue. He uncovered a line in game five, winning the Top Prize of $75,000!
“I was just shaking!” he said. “I’ve never won anything even close to this before! It’s like a dream!”
Both winners indicated they will be careful with their new financial windfalls. Greg said he plans to invest and Terrance said he will seek some sound financial advice before deciding what to do.
