THANKSGIVING JACKPOT FOR GIBSONS WINNER
October 12, 2011
The turkey will taste especially good for Linda Plows this Thanksgiving.
The 48-year-old Gibsons mom matched all six of her lucky numbers to win $3.85 million on Lotto 6/49. Plows split the $7.7 million jackpot with another winner from Ontario on the October 5, 2011 draw.
"I always knew I was going to win one day. My lucky numbers are made up of birthdays and anniversaries," said Plows at BCLC's Vancouver office. "Everyone at work was talking about a 6/49 winner in Gibsons. I checked with a co-worker online at my office and knew the moment I saw them that they were mine. I started screaming."
After checking her numbers, Plows left work immediately to visit her mother.
"I got to my mom's place and she wasn't there. I walked home thinking 'I've just won the lottery and I have no one to tell'," laughed Plows. "It's so exciting to share the news with your family."
Plows' to-do list includes buying a house with a view and sharing the prize with her family.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Gibsons Way and Shaw Rd. in Gibsons.
"This will be the most memorable Thanksgiving dinner we've ever had," added Plows.
