STUARTS DRAFT MAN WINS $1 MILLION IN VIRGINIAS NEW YEARS MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE

David Griffin was only kidding when he told his co-workers he was going to win the top prize in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. As luck would have it, he was right! His ticket, #188106, was one of three drawn on New Year’s Day to win the $1 million top prize.
“I’m still in shock,” he told Virginia Lottery officials.
He bought the winning ticket at C-Store, 2653 Stuarts Draft Highway in Stuarts Draft. On January 5, he returned to the store to receive his check from Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto. The store received a $10,000 bonus for selling the top-prize-winning ticket.
The other top-prize winners bought their tickets in Clarksville and Great Falls. Six tickets won $25,000 each. Those tickets were bought in Chesapeake, Clear Brook, Hampton, Richmond, Burke and Glen Allen. An additional 300 tickets each won $500.
Mr. Griffin, who works as a diesel mechanic, told Lottery officials he plans to use his winnings to take care of his family.
