ST LOUIS PARK RESIDENT WINS $200,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
December 19, 2011
Benjamin Wogen of St. Louis Park bought a five-line quick-pick ticket for the Dec. 14 Powerball drawing while he was at SuperAmerica, 6955 Market St. in Golden Valley that afternoon to fill his car with gas.
At 11:30 p.m. that night he and his fiancée checked the ticket after they got home from the Minnesota Wild hockey game. Wogen used an iPad to check the winning numbers against the numbers on his ticket. “I was looking at both and thought I misread them,” was his thought after the first five numbers matched.
He handed the ticket to his fiancée and said, “Can you read me the second line on this?” Then he handed her the iPad and asked, “Can you read me the numbers on this?” She confirmed that the first five numbers drawn matched those on Wogen’s ticket to win the $200,000 prize.
