SPONTANEOUS LOTTERY PURCHASE EARNS YONKERS WOMAN $1,000,000 JACKPOT
October 26, 2011
Lori Tangredi of Yonkers, Westchester County made her daily stop for coffee on her way to work on September 30. She decided to spoil herself and buy a bagel to go with it and while she was at it maybe try her luck on a Lottery ticket. After leaving the deli, she headed to Odell Stationery on North Broadway and purchased a Wheel of Fortune scratch-off ticket in hopes of hitting the $1,000,000 jackpot prize. The decision paid off when Tangredi scratched the winning combination making the marketing assistant an instant millionaire.
“I basically blew my diet and I decided to go whole hog by adding a Lottery ticket,” said the 46-year-old mother of two. “I won the prize while buying my breakfast and claimed it on my lunch break. It was a good day!”
As is the case with most New York Lottery scratch-off games, the top prize on the Wheel of Fortune ticket is paid as an annuity. Tangredi will receive her $1,000,000 prize as $50,000 a year for 20 years. Her annual net check will total $32,342.
“I really only have one thing in mind for the money. I’ll use it to help out my children,” explained Tangredi.
