SINGLE MOM BECOMES BIGGEST CASH FOR LIFE WINNER
June 1, 2011
CHICAGO – A single mom became the second Chicagoan in just the past two weeks to hit the jackpot with the Illinois Lottery’s Cash for Life game.
Elizabeth Wilson won the largest Cash for Life prize to date - $1,000 a week, every week, for life.
"I couldn't believe it,” said Ms. Wilson. “You play with hopes that you will win, but never think it will be you."
Ms. Wilson will use the money to pay for her daughter’s college education and buy a new car, but will continue living as she always has.
"I enjoy working, and I plan to continue to do so, but this win makes things a little easier.”
Today the Illinois Lottery presented Ms. Wilson with an oversized check of $1,000 a week for life at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago. She was joined by her mother, daughter and co-workers.
The Illinois Lottery’s Cash for Life game was launched in April and offers players the chance to win $500, $1,000 or $2,500 every week for the rest of their lives. The top prize amount depends on whether the player plays a $1, $2 or $5 instant ticket. To date there have been two $500 a week for life winners, in addition to Ms. Wilson at $1,000 a week for life.
