SAILOR FROM FREDERICKSBURG WINS $100,000
January 12, 2012
Edward Price thought he had been tricked. He was holding in his hand what appeared to be a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket worth $100,000. His first thought was that it must be fake.
“Who got me?” he later recalled thinking.
It wasn’t a prank. Price won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Jewel 7’s game.
The Navy petty officer, who lives in Fredericksburg, bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 5291 James Madison Parkway in King George.
He said he intends to save his winnings and maybe take a trip with his wife Katherine.
Jewel 7’s (game #1252) is one of the more colorful games from the Virginia Lottery. Tickets can be either ruby red, like the one Price bought, or emerald green.
He is the seventh $100,000 winner in Jewel 7’s, which means one top-prize ticket remains unclaimed.
