RETIRED GWINNETT COUNTY TEACHER WINS $52,000
October 20, 2011
A retired teacher has won a Georgia Lottery prize. Patrick Watkins of Grayson matched five winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the Oct. 15 Win for Life drawing.
Watkins won $1,000 a week for a year, totaling $52,000.
The grandfather of five has worked as an educator for 48 years.
“I’m going to sit down with my wife and go over some things,” said Watkins, 72.
Winning numbers from the Win for Life drawing were: 4-5-13-14-21-33 and the Free Ball was 28.
Kroger #0480, 1911 Grayson Highway in Grayson, sold the winning ticket.
Watkins checked the results of the drawing on the Georgia Lottery’s website the following day.
“I’m in disbelief,” he shared.
In addition to his five grandchildren, the lucky lottery winner has two adult sons with his wife, Rebecca.
