PETERSBURG WOMAN WINS $76,600 WITH 19 TICKETS IN THE SAME DRAWING

Ellen Davis is no stranger to winning big in the Virginia Lottery. She won $100,000 playing Cash 5 in 2007; she’s had numerous other big paydays as well, often with several tickets in the same drawing. On January 3, she was back at Lottery headquarters with a handful of winning tickets.
Ms. Davis won a total of $76,600 in the December 29 Pick 4 night drawing. She had 19 tickets, all with the same four-digit combination: 1-1-2-8. She told Lottery officials that’s the birthday of one of her grandchildren.
“We have 13 grandchildren and we play their birthdays,” she said. In fact, when she was asked to what she attributed her many wins, she replied, “Just having a lot of grandchildren!”
She bought all of the winning tickets at the 7-Eleven at 225 South Boulevard in Petersburg. She wagered “exact order” on 11 tickets and won $5,000 on each. She wagered “50/50” on eight tickets, winning $2,700 on each.
