PAULDING COUNTY GOLD STAR FATHER WINS 2012 JEEP

Jason Estopinal of Dallas is taking off with a shiny, new Georgia Lottery prize. Estopinal, 49, won a 2012 Jeep Wrangler playing the instant game Jeep Outdoor Adventure.
Estopinal and his wife, Claire, are Gold Star parents whose son, Marine Pfc. Jason H. Estopinal, 21, died during combat in Afghanistan in 2010.
“We needed a smile,” Estopinal said. “We haven’t smiled in awhile, and this has made us smile.”
Georgia Lottery representatives presented Estopinal with keys to his new Jeep at Chuck Clancy Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 567 E. Main St. in Cartersville, on Friday.
Claire purchased the lucky ticket at Kroger #0456, 4400 Brownsville Road in Powder Springs, from the lottery’s instant ticket vending machine. She scratched it in the car.
“I got it out of the machine,” she said. “I just guessed.”
The couple, who have another son headed for college, celebrated their 24th anniversary last month.
