ONCE IN A LIFETIME PURCHASE LEADS TO $20,000 WIN

A couple weeks ago, 20-year-old Lacey Bishop decided to make a “once-in-a-lifetime” purchase by buying 20-25 $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch tickets. Her once-in-a-lifetime purchase turned into a once in a lifetime celebration when the Sedgwick resident revealed all 10 words on one of the tickets, winning a $20,000 top prize!
“Since I’m either working or going to school, I don’t have a lot of time to spend money,” said Bishop. “I very seldom buy lottery tickets, but one of the store clerks told me someone had just won $2,000 playing a Bonus Crossword ticket, so I thought I would give it a try and bought 20-25 tickets.”
Since there were so many tickets to scratch, Bishop asked her friend Sarah Payne to lend her a hand.
“Sarah is the one who actually scratched the winning ticket,” said Bishop. “We were both so surprised. I didn’t think the ticket was real. When I called my parents they didn’t think it was real either until I showed them my ticket.”
Bishop, who is a junior at Wichita State University, plans to put her winnings toward her student loans. “But, I am going to buy an iPad first,” said Bishop.
The winning ticket was purchased at EEI CS3, located at 3524 S. Duncan in Newton.
