NEW ORLEANS RESIDENT CLAIMS $350,000 LOTTO JACKPOT
August 29, 2011
After his tires blew out last month, Eddie Taylor of New Orleans started borrowing family members' cars while saving for a new set. When Taylor arrived at Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge to claim the $350,000 Lotto jackpot from Aug. 17, he knew exactly what he was going to do with the prize money - purchase new tires, among other things.
"We're going to have a family meeting to discuss what to do with the money," shared Taylor, age 54. "I'm going to buy new tires, maybe even a new car. My daughter wants to go to Las Vegas to see Cirque Du Soliel, so we'll probably do that too."
A loyal player, Taylor has been playing the Lottery for 20 years since its inception in 1991. He said he's always enjoyed thinking of how he could help his family and others if he ever "won big."
Kenilworth Spur on I-10 South Service Road in New Orleans sold Taylor his jackpot-winning ticket. The store will receive a bonus of $3,500, which is 1 percent of the prize, for selling the winning ticket. The winning numbers for the Aug. 17 Lotto drawing were 01-04-06-14-15-17.
After federal and state taxes were withheld, Taylor received $245,000.
