NASSAU COUNTY BUTCHER CLAIMS HAPPY HOLIDAYS TOP PRIZE TWO DAYS AFTER GAME LAUNCHES
November 3, 2011
Nassau County’s Ralph Fischetto, 35, of Lynbrook, claimed a $25,000 top prize on the New York Lottery’s Happy Holidays scratch-off game just two days after the game’s launch. “I like the new games,” said Fischetto when he claimed his prize at the Lottery’s Garden City Customer Service Center on November 3.
The odds of winning the top prize for the $2 seasonal scratch-off are 1 in 741,600. The long odds didn’t stop Fischetto from purchasing one of the new tickets at Ocean Sunrise Corporation on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Center, Nassau County on November 1, the day the game launched.
“I went to the store to check my ticket,” Fischetto said. “And I was completely shocked when I realized I had won.”
The Long Islander works as a supermarket butcher and said he plans to spend his windfall on “a new apartment and new furniture.”
