MORIARTY MAN WINS $100,000 NEW MEXICO LOTTERY PRIZE
August 8, 2011
Mark Lincoln of Moriarty won $100,000 playing New Mexico Lottery Scratchers.
On Saturday afternoon, Lincoln stopped on his way to work to exchange a $10-winning lottery ticket for a “Platinum Card” Scratcher. He arrived at work $100,000 richer.
“I was shaking,” Lincoln recalled for lottery officials in Albuquerque on Monday. “I was just freaking out.”
The 48-year-old winner called his wife from the road, but he had difficulty speaking.
“She thought I’d been in an accident because my voice was cracking pretty good,” Lincoln said.
After paying off a car loan and a credit card bill, Lincoln said he plans to put his prize in the bank.
“I could blow through this in no time buying toys, but if I can be smart with it, I can change things,” he said.
Lincoln bought his lucky ticket at Giant Station No. 6843 located at 6821 San Mateo Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. The store has sold three other large prize-winning lottery tickets ranging between $1,000 and $10,000.
