MONDAY MORNING MILLIONS! MCCHORD AIR FORCE RETIREE WINS FINAL SET FOR LIFE PRIZE OF $2,800,000
August 9, 2011
82 year-old Tacoma resident, Charles Maginnis, claimed his "Set for Life" top prize of $2.8 million at Washington's Lottery Federal Way regional office this morning! This is the final "Set for Life" top prize of two which offered two prize choices; $4,000 a week for life paid in annual installments, or a $2.8 million lump sum - Charles opted for the lump sum.
Washington's newest millionaire purchased his winning ticket at the Fred Meyer on 7250 Pacific Avenue in Tacoma, where he is a regular. Charles explained that this "Set for Life" Scratch ticket is "the first $20 Scratch ticket I've ever purchased!" He typically plays $1 or $2 Lottery games but now thinks he may shell out the extra money for the $20 games.
After being in shock and disbelief, it took some time before Charles realized his winning ticket was legitimate on Friday evening. He first told his wife, who didn't believe him until they cashed it in this morning! Over the weekend he hid the winning ticket throughout his house in various places to keep it safe! Charles and his wife, Shirley, have kept their win a secret from their whole family! They plan to have a family get together tonight where they will reveal their new millionaire status to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! Little do they know, they will receive most of the $2.8 million win as Charles plans to give a majority of the prize to them, pay off some debts, buy his wife a hearing aid, and enjoy a now sweeter retirement as a McChord Air Force retiree!
