MASSACHUSETTS STATE LOTTERY AND BOSTON BRUINS TEAM UP ON NEW $5 INSTANT GAME
September 22, 2011
The Massachusetts State Lottery and the Boston Bruins today announced they are teaming up on a new instant ticket and are looking for fans to join them at a special Stanley Cup event to celebrate the game’s official launch on Tuesday, October 4th.

The two organizations aim to continue their winning streak with the release of the 2011 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Champions Instant Ticket. The new $5 game, the third Massachusetts instant ticket partnership with the team, comes on the heels of a $5 Bruins ticket that was released in September 2010 and sold out in June 2011 – just two weeks after the team clinched its first Stanley Cup Championship in 39 years.

“The Lottery’s partnerships with the Boston Bruins and other sports teams have been tremendously successful, helping Massachusetts emerge as the world-wide leader in marketing of professional sports-branded lottery games,” said State Treasurer Steven Grossman. “Working with the region’s professional teams to develop innovative games with one-of-a-kind prizes has helped the Lottery sell more than $1.1 billion in sports tickets alone and generate more than $173 million in local aid revenues. We look forward to increasing those already impressive figures with the release of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions game.”

The 2011 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Champions Instant Ticket features immediate cash prizes totaling over $39 million, including six (6) top prizes of $250,000 and 66,000 prizes ranging from $10 to $100,000. The game also features a second-chance drawing through which players can enter their non-winning tickets for a chance to win Official Boston Bruins gear packs, one-of-a-kind VIP Experience packages, and opportunities to participate in an “On Ice Challenge” between periods at a home game and win up to $250,000 cash.

“We’re happy to partner with the Massachusetts State Lottery for our third instant game ticket,” said Boston Bruins President Cam Neely. “This is an exciting time for our team and the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Champions Instant Ticket supports our mission of sharing this experience with our fans and the community.”

The Lottery and Bruins are inviting fans, via the Lottery’s Official Facebook page, to enter for a chance to win tickets to the launch celebration on Tuesday, October 4th at the TD Garden where winners and a guest can watch a Boston Bruins team practice, have photos taken with the legendary Stanley Cup and attend the official unveiling of the new instant ticket. The call for entries opens today and will close on Monday, September 26th. A total of 75 winners will be randomly selected from the pool of entrants.

“After witnessing the remarkable reaction people have had to the Bruins’ Stanley Cup Championship, we wanted to find a way capture some of that excitement and share it with lottery players and fans throughout Massachusetts,” said Lottery Executive Director Paul Sternburg. “We believe that the unique prize packages and one-of-a-kind team experiences offered in this new ticket, as well as the launch party event, will deliver some of that fun to our audiences and continue the momentum into this season.”
