Richard Stewart of Nanticoke, Luzerne County, is the first $1 million winner from the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Dec. 31 Millionaire Raffle drawing to claim one of the game’s four top prizes.
Stewart and his wife, Ann, purchased the ticket at the Cocoa Hut, located at 199 Middle Road, Nanticoke. The ticket was validated Jan. 5 at Lottery headquarters.
Stewart, a 57-year-old ironworker at McGregor Iron Works in Dunmore, said the couple plans to use the winnings to take a vacation to Hawaii with their children, and perhaps purchase a new convertible – which his wife wants to buy.
The couple occasionally plays other Lottery games including Cash 5 and The Daily Number, regularly buying their tickets at the Cocoa Hut. Stewart said they always buy a ticket for the Millionaire Raffle each time it goes on sale.
