LUCKY PIGEON DELIVERS $50,000 PRIZE TO EAST HAVEN LOTTERY WINNER

Like many other CT Lottery “Cashword” instant game fans, Debbie Marotti of East Haven says she really enjoys the extended play style of the $10 game, “Super Cashword 14.” “I like sitting down and relaxing with it. It’s fun to cross off letters and spell words.”
Recently, Debbie purchased a Super Cashword 14 ticket and brought it home to play. With each successive word match, Debbie became more hopeful that her ticket would be a big winner. “My husband kept encouraging me that maybe I would win $50,000,” she explained. When she scratched the last letter in the word “PIGEON” for her tenth and final match, Debbie told Lottery officials she was completely shocked. “I couldn’t believe it; I told my husband ‘I think I just won $50,000!’”
Debbie arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to accept her prize check for $34,151 (value after taxes) commenting that she “didn’t sleep a wink” the night before. “I was so excited; I kept waking up…wondering if it was really true. It’s a lot of money!”
Debbie's $50,000 top prize winning Super Cashword 14 ticket was purchased at Shell Food Mart, located at 1183 Townsend Avenue in New Haven. For selling the ticket, Shell Food Mart will receive a $500 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
