LAUREL COUNTY WOMAN HAD FEELING SHE WAS GOING TO WIN LOTTERY, CLAIMS $200K POWERBALL PRIZE
August 2, 2011
Kimberly Harville, 41, of London had been telling her husband Shannon that she was going to win the lottery but she never imagined it would really happen.
After checking her tickets on the Internet Sunday morning, Kimberly discovered she had a winning Powerball ticket worth $200,000.
“When I saw the numbers match, I thought somebody was messing with me so I closed the page out and looked at it again from the beginning,” Kimberly told lottery officials. Sure enough, the numbers did match. “I started screaming for my husband to wake up so he could look at it,” she said.
“I didn’t believe her at first,” Shannon said. “The last time she sounded like that we’d found a snake in the house. I’m glad there was no snake this time,” he said with a laugh.
The Harville’s don’t play the lottery on a regular basis. Kimberly had seen a commercial on television the Friday before the drawing, which prompted her to go out and buy tickets.
Kimberly purchased $10 quick pick tickets, letting the lottery terminal pick the numbers for her. After buying her tickets she said to her husband, “Go ahead and be thinking about how you’re going to spend it because we’re winning it."
Three days later, Kimberly is receiving a check for $138,000 after taxes. "It's going to make a huge difference in our lives," Shannon said. Kimberly and her husband plan to pay off medical bills, fix up their house, purchase a new car and put money away for their children. The retailer, Saddlebrook Quick Stop, will receive $2,000 for selling the winning ticket.
