LAST YEARS HOLIDAY MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE WINNER SAYS WINNING HAS ENHANCED HER LIFE
December 30, 2011
Last year, a shocked Topeka resident came to Lottery headquarters to claim the $1 million grand prize in the Kansas Lottery’s Holiday Millionaire Raffle. One year to the day later, she was back again to claim prizes of a lesser amount. The 61-year-old winner held three winning raffle tickets this year.
Lottery staff was excited to see her back and asked if she would mind sitting down and talking to us on camera about how her life had changed in the past year. She agreed.
“It has been an exciting year,” she says in the interview. “My husband and I bought new vehicles, traveled and invested.”
A year later, she is still working at the State of Kansas, now for 34 years, and is thrilled with the opportunities becoming a millionaire has offered. “Winning has really improved the quality of our life and it’s enhanced our life so much,” she said.
The video interview includes advice to this year’s winner and childhood dreams of winning a million dollars courtesy of the 1950s television series, “The Millionaire.”
As for playing Holiday Millionaire Raffle in 2012, she said. “Playing is such a delight. I look forward to buying tickets again next year.”
