INDY MAN WINS CASH, KEEPS PERSPECTIVE
November 23, 2011
76-year-old Jack Canter says he doesn’t need very much. But that’s not stopping him from relishing a $200,000 win from the Hoosier Lottery or from buying his wife a new Chrysler with his winnings.
Canter is thrilled to be able to buy his wife a new car with newly won cash. He’s just glad he’s got the extra cash to do it.
“My wife bought the ticket. She came home crying and I said, ‘Oh no, she wrecked the car,’” said Canter.
Jennifer Canter purchased a top-prize winning Break the Bank Scratch-off ticket at Speedway at 3510 S. Meridian Street in Indianapolis.
Break the Bank launched November 3 and offers six $200,000 top prizes, five of which are unclaimed, and 14 $50,000 prizes, thirteen of which are still unclaimed at this time.
After a run of bad health and bad luck, the retired truck driver and Korean War veteran is taking the win in stride.
“It’s just money. A few years ago I had an accident and they said I wouldn’t live, or if I did, I wouldn’t walk or talk,” said Canter. “Here I am.”
