Dave Peterson cashed in a winning lottery ticket worth $7 around noon yesterday (Dec. 22) at Freedom Valu Center, 1726 Vermillion St. in Hastings. He bought a Powerball ticket, a Mega Millions ticket and one Sizzlin’ 7s scratch ticket.
The Hastings resident said he drove to his sister’s house, where he scratched the ticket. “I scratched all the symbols, then I scratched the prize from left to right and saw all the 7s,” he recalled after uncovering five 7s for a $77,777 prize. “I had to stare at it for a while!”
Peterson showed the ticket to his sister, telling her, “‘Look at this!’ We sat there and looked at each other. Then I said, ‘Yeah!’”
He claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters on Dec. 22.
