HARRISONBURG MAN WINS $150,000 IN VIRGINIA LOTTERYS WORLD POKER TOUR GAME
January 10, 2012
Imagine driving home, trying to figure out how to tell someone you’ve just won $150,000. That’s the “problem” Kenneth Halvorsen had after he discovered he’d won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s World Poker Tour game.
The Harrisonburg man bought the winning ticket at Royal, 895 East Market Street in Harrisonburg.
He told Lottery officials he scratched the ticket while he was still in the store. When he realized it was no ordinary ticket, he quietly left the store. While driving home, he tried to plan how to tell his wife in a funny way. However, when he got home, he just came out with it.
World Poker Tour is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 to $150,000. This is the third top prize claimed in World Poker Tour, which means two $150,000 tickets are unclaimed.
In addition, the World Poker Tour game has a Second Chance Sweepstakes in which players can enter non-winning World Poker Tour tickets for chances to win entry into a World Poker Tour tournament or prize packs.
Mr. Halvorsen said he plans to pay bills with his prize and save for his son’s college education.
