HARRIS TEETER DONATES LOTTERY INCENTIVE TO CHARITY
December 12, 2011
A major lottery retailer, Harris Teeter, today donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina an $8,000 incentive award it had received for selling a winning ticket for a Carolina Cash 5 jackpot.
The Education Lottery awarded the incentive to Harris Teeter after the winning ticket for the Carolina Cash 5 drawing on Oct. 27 was purchased at its Battleground Avenue store in Greensboro. A Greensboro resident bought the lucky ticket that matched all five numbers in the drawing and won the jackpot of $380,644.
Harris Teeter District Manager Jerry Kiker presented the check to the food bank today at the store. The company chose the food bank as the recipient because the ticket was sold during the company’s annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign.
“This very special $8,000 donation from Harris Teeter will go a long way toward helping Second Harvest Food Bank provide much-needed food assistance to those in need in our community during the holiday season,” said Clyde Fitzgerald, executive director of the food bank. “It will allow us to provide 56,000 nutritious meals to those in need.”
