HAMPTON WOMAN WINS $25,000 IN VIRGINIAS NEW YEARS MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE

Ernestine Summers of Hampton had never played Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. She bought a ticket, #207221, at the 7-Eleven at 1033 Mercury Boulevard in Hampton and waited for the January 1 drawing.
It was worth the wait. Her ticket ended up being one of six drawn for the $25,000 prize.
“I didn’t know what to do,” she told Lottery officials as she claimed her prize. “I had to get myself together.”
Ms. Summers told Lottery officials she works evenings as a machinist and takes care of the elderly during the day. She said she has no immediate plans for her winnings.
The other five $25,000 winners bought their tickets in Burke, Chesapeake, Clear Brook, Glen Allen and Richmond.
Three tickets won the $1 million top prize in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. Those tickets were bought in Clarksville, Great Falls and Stuarts Draft. An additional 300 tickets each won $500.
