GOSHEN MAN SNAGS $50,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
January 3, 2012
An Elkhart County man changed up the way he plays Powerball and it paid off for him. Timothy Charlton of Goshen says he usually only plays Powerball on Saturdays and never adds Power Play. For some reason, he decided to buy a ticket for the Wednesday, Dec. 21 drawing. Since he was already mixing up his routine, he decided to go ahead and add Power Play, too. Those two decisions won him $50,000!
Charlton matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number in the Dec. 21 drawing. Because he added Power Play for an extra dollar, he turned a $10,000 prize into a $50,000 prize.
“I have no idea why I just asked for Power Play,” said Charlton, who purchased his lucky ticket at 7-Eleven at 22220 Elkhart Road in Goshen.
Charlton works as a security guard. He claimed his prize December 30 accompanied by his daughter, Caitlyn Charlton. As for his winnings, Charlton says he plans to put it in savings
