GOLFER HITS JACKPOT WITH POKER LOTTO HOLE IN ONE
August 12, 2011
Jackpot winners normally take up golfing after they win, but Don Parks is a little unique. While on his way home following a round of golf, Parks was "feeling lucky" and went out of his way to purchase a Poker Lotto ticket from his favourite lottery retailer.
Returning to the Kelowna Superstore three days later, the 77-year-old grandfather discovered his ticket matched all five playing cards to win the $100,000 jackpot.
"I was shocked. I saw all the zeros and thought I'd won a thousand dollars," described Parks. "Then I looked again! It was great, everyone was congratulating me. Of course my wife thought I was joking when I told her."
Parks becomes the first to win the $100,000 jackpot on the new B.C. lottery game, Poker Lotto.
"I'm looking forward to sharing the prize with the family....and playing more golf. I'm still feeling lucky," continued Parks.
He is aware the estimated odds of a hole-in-one during a round of golf are 1:15,000.
