EGGS WIN SAN JOSE WOMAN $1 MILLION SCRATCHERS PRIZE
December 9, 2011
Pamela K. has a newfound love of eggs after winning a $1 million Scratchers prize from the California Lottery. On Wednesday night when she went to make popovers for dinner (her husband’s favorite), she discovered that they were completely out of eggs. Though her husband insisted she didn’t need to run to the market, Pamela decided to quickly go to a nearby 7-Eleven and pick some up.
“When I went up to the cash register to buy the eggs, I saw that there was only one $10 Scratchers ticket left in the bin and the first thought that came into my head was ‘that must be the lucky one!” Pamela said.
So with her eggs and Scratchers ticket in hand, Pamela returned home and discovered that her intuition was right. The ticket she had bought was in fact a $1 million winner, making her the 12th instant $1 million winner since the California Lottery’s “$250 Million Cash Spectacular” Scratchers ticket launched.
Pamela says she will use her winnings to pay off her house and possibly buy herself a new car. She is also contemplating whether she will retire from her job as a Sales Representative at the eyeglasses company she has worked at for 23 years.
If you’re wondering if Pamela ever got around to making those popovers for her husband it’s needless to say she was too excited to continue making dinner. “My husband ended up eating a ham and cheese sandwich. He said to me, ‘I’m a millionaire and I am eating ham and cheese sandwiches!’” said Pamela laughing.
The lucky ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 1595 Branham Lane in San Jose. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the top prize-winning ticket.
