DURHAM MAN TO HELP FAMILY WITH $100,000 SCRATCH-OFF PRIZE
December 22, 2011
Kenneth Roberts, a warehouse worker from Durham, plans to help renovate his parents’ home and travel after winning the $100,000 top prize in the lottery’s Mega Bucks game. Roberts learned of his win on Wednesday.
“My sister scratched it off for me,” Roberts said. “After I took it back to the store to scan it, I jumped for joy. I got very little sleep. I’m overwhelmed, but very happy.”
Roberts, who won $100 previously on a scratch-off ticket, received a check for $68,001. Roberts purchased the winning ticket at the Han-Dee Hugo on West Club Boulevard in Durham. As of Thursday afternoon, the game has eight $100,000 top prizes remaining to be claimed.
