DUBBLE BUBBLE DOUBLERS SECOND CHANCE DRAWING WRAPS-UP WITH $50,000 WIN
November 3, 2011
Shawntice Patterson—a single mom of two, medical billing student, and District of Columbia resident—was awarded the Grand Prize of $50,000 in the D.C. Lottery’s Dubble Bubble Doubler’s Second Chance Drawing held on October 12, 2011.
“It was time to look,” said Shawntice when recounting how she discovered that she was the grand prize winner. Seated at her computer, she casually checked the D.C. Lottery website to see who had won. She had entered about a dozen nonwinning tickets into the Second Chance Drawing. It would be one entered on the final day for entry that would be the winner. She didn’t have to scroll far. Then, exclaimed, “That is not my name!”
Oh, but it was. Shawntice was the final winner of the D.C. Lottery’s Dubble Bubble DoublerSecond Chance Drawing. This, was the last in a series of three Second Chance Drawings for prizes including batting practice on-field passes, exclusive game tickets to Nationals Park, and others leading up to the Grand Prize Drawing for $50,000.
The Dubble Bubble Doubler ticket is a $5 D.C. Scratcher with a remaining top prize of $50,000 still to be claimed. Dubble Bubble Doubler is the D.C. Lottery’s first-ever scratch-n-sniff ticket.
And, with its baseball-related second chance prizes, the ticket married two of America’s favorite pastimes—baseball and bubble gum.
“We always love celebrating winners. But, winners like Shawntice have a special place in our hearts. We imagine this is one of many homeruns she’ll be hitting out of the park,”congratulated Buddy Roogow, executive director of the D.C. Lottery.
