Washington, D.C. – It’s Spring in Washington, DC… cherry blossoms, baseball, and bubble gum.
And, on Opening Day for the Washington Nationals, J. Anthony Jackson of Northeast won $50,000 with the D.C. Lottery’s newest D.C. Scratcher, Dubble Bubble Doubler.
Jackson, an engineer, works the night shift in Washington, D.C., and during his break at 4:30 a.m., he stopped by the 7-Eleven on Hawaii Avenue, NE to buy his lottery tickets.
“I bought two of the $5 games because they smelled like bubble gum,” he said. And, one of his two tickets was worth the top prize of $50,000. “I went back to work, then got off early, and went home waiting for the Claim Center to open at 8:30 a.m.”
“Dubble Bubble Doubler is the D.C. Lottery’s first scratch ‘n sniff ticket, and features Pud, the
nostalgic gum-chewing character,” said D.C. Lottery’s Executive Director Buddy Roogow. “We
wanted to give our players something that celebrated two of America’s favorite past-times--bubble gum and baseball-- and this ticket is it.”
