COUPLE WILL PAY FOR HOUSE AND SONS COLLEGE EDUCATION WITH A WASHINGTON' LOTTERY WIN
September 29, 2011
Diane Shulz says she has "the best husband in the entire world" for so many reasons, but today's reason is that he bought her a Scratch ticket worth $200,000! Diane's husband, Usto, purchased one ticket for himself and one for his wife on Thursday. His wife's "Gold Rush" Scratch was the winning one of the pair.
"When he showed me the ticket, I thought it was fake," recalled Diane. "I once gave my dad one of those fake winning Lottery tickets, and I was sure this was one of those!"
"We were really hurting for money. My husband was laid off a year ago, and it's been difficult for him to find work," she explained. "It's just so unreal still. We can't believe we won't have a house payment anymore. All of that money can go to other things we need now!"
"This money came at just the right time," she explained. "My son will start school at Highline soon and this will help so much with that." Diane and her family will use the money to pay off their house, go to Las Vegas for the weekend, and send their 18-year-old son to Highline Community College.
Diane works at Regence Blue Shield and said all of her co-workers were excited for her. "I called them to see if I could take the day off for our Vegas trip," she said. "They all couldn't believe it when I told them!"
Usto bought their lucky "Gold Rush" Scratch ticket at the Circle K convenience store on 21st Avenue Southwest in Federal Way.
