COLUMBIA COUPLE CLAIM $100,000 LOTTERY PRIZE
January 11, 2012
A “spur of the moment” decision to purchase a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket led Jane Hart of Columbia to a $100,000 payday. The 55-year-old nurse at University Hospital in Columbia said she hadn’t intended on purchasing a “$1,000,000 Payout” Scratchers game when she stopped for gasoline at Break Time, 2402 Paris Road, in Columbia.
“This was the first time I ever bought that game, and the first time I ever bought a $10 Scratchers ticket,” Hart explained. “The game was new, so I decided to give it a try.”
The mother-of-two was “pretty excited” when she uncovered the prize.
“We never thought we’d win something like this,” she added, noting that her husband Lloyd “couldn’t believe it” when she shared the news with him about the prize amount.
“We’re going to pay off our vehicles, pay bills, and we’re not sure about the rest,” Hart revealed.
A potential anniversary trip might also be in store for the couple, who will celebrate 35 years of marriage in July.
