CLOVIS HUSBAND BRINGS WIFE A LOTTERY GAME PAYING $50,000
July 5, 2011
Clovis resident Susanne Souders won $50,000 playing a New Mexico Lottery game selected by her husband.
“I’m good at picking the good games for other people,” Jerry Souders said.
On Saturday, the couple stopped for gas at the Allsup’s Store No. 170. When Jerry Souders returned to the truck, he handed his wife a $5 “Diamond Mine” Scratcher. Susanne Souders discovered the five-figure prize before they left the parking lot.
“I was thrilled to death,” Susanne Souders told lottery officials in Albuquerque. “I started planning out all the things we could do.”
Paying off an auto loan is high on the wish list, but first she’s treating her husband to dinner to celebrate their good fortune.
Allsup’s Store No. 170, located at 3500 N. Prince St. in Clovis, has been a lottery retailer since 1996. Previously, the store has sold 15 large prize-winning lottery tickets paying between $1,000 and $17,000.
