CITY OF LOUISVILLE WINS COLORADO LOTTERY STARBURST AWARD FOR MEMORY SQUARE PARK RENOVATION PROJECT
September 20, 2011
The Colorado Lottery has awarded a 2011 Starburst Community Award to the City of Louisville for using Lottery dollars to renovate Memory Square Park. The City of Louisville funded the project using $103,000 of Lottery-funded Conservation Trust Fund dollars.
The renovation focused on entry improvements at the arts center and pool, horseshoe pit improvements, shelter landscaping and seatwalls, park entry sign landscaping, shuffleboard court removal, new bike racks and irrigation adjustments.
“Memory Square Park is just two blocks from Louisville’s historic Main Street – the improvements to the park are a testament to the city’s commitment to its older public spaces and Old Town,” said Matt Robbins, community relations specialist for the Colorado Lottery.
“The upgrades to Memory Square Park has kept it up to speed with upgrades happening all over Old Town Louisville and has brought increased pedestrian activity to the downtown area,” said Kathy Kron, project manager for Memory Square Park. “Instead of a tired old dead zone, it’s now a hub of activity for the community.”
