CITY OF BRIGHTON WINS COLORADO LOTTERY STARBURST AWARD FOR THE BRIGHTON OASIS FAMILY AQUATIC PARK
September 20, 2011
The Colorado Lottery has awarded a 2011 Starburst Community Award to the City of Brighton for using Lottery dollars to complete the Brighton Oasis Family Aquatic Park project. The City of Brighton utilized a Lottery-funded Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) grant of $500,000 to help construct the aquatic park.
The Brighton Oasis Family Aquatic Park was constructed to replace Brighton’s historic pool that was more than 50 years old. The new aquatic park was designed to be enjoyed by all age groups and abilities & oriented towards family use. A few of the park’s highlights include spiraling slides, a lazy river, diving board area and pavilions for party rentals. The Lottery-funded GOCO grant funded a leisure pool with zero depth entry & interactive water play and spray features.
“The opening of Brighton Oasis is a leap forward from pool equipment used in the mid-1900’s to a new and vibrant 21st century aquatic park that is the pride of the community and used by a regional patron base,” said Gary Wardle, director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Brighton.
