CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR FRANKLIN FAMILY
December 7, 2011
When Marvin Pruitt and his mother stopped at Tobacco Road at 50 South Morton Street in Franklin Tuesday afternoon they received good and bad news. The bad news was that the bathroom was out of order. The good news came in the form of an early Christmas present, a $50,000 winning Break the Bank Scratch-off from the Hoosier Lottery.
The Franklin man was so excited about his win that he and his mother immediately picked up his father, his wife Elizabeth, and their six children, ages three to fifteen, and drove straight to Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis to claim his winnings.
“I’m so emotional, I have no words. I don’t know what to think,” said Pruitt. “I’m happy, happy, happy, happy!”
Pruitt is a cook and his wife works at a nursing home. They were both elated and overwhelmed by the unexpected holiday windfall.
“We work hard and we do OK, but with six kids it’s hard to have anything extra,” said Pruitt. "This is all about my babies. This is for them.”
