BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR WINS $277,000

A breast cancer survivor feels especially lucky to have won the lottery while celebrating National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Bessie Irene Rawls, 54, recently won $277,844 playing Fantasy 5.
“I’ll never forget this month,” said Rawls, who also celebrated her birthday and wedding anniversary in October. “I just can’t believe it.”
Rawls, who lives in Jonesboro, is a proud breast cancer survivor.
“I love to tell the world that,” she said. “I’ve gone through a lot of things.”
A drug store shift supervisor, Rawls plans to use her winnings to pay bills and help her children.
“We might take a cruise,” she added.
Rawls purchased her Quik Pik top prize ticket for the Oct. 14 Fantasy 5 drawing at Sonoco Food Mart, 900 Highway 138 W., Stockbridge. A second top prize ticket was sold in Valdosta.
Winning numbers from the drawing were: 16-28-34-36-39.
