Congratulations to Tim Armitage of Bedford, Ind.! Armitage is the latest lucky Hoosier to win a million dollars playing Powerball with Power Play in Indiana.
Armitage walked into Hoosier Lottery Headquarters December 20 and presented the ticket that the town of Bedford has been buzzing about. He is the holder of the lucky Powerball ticket worth $1 million in last Saturday’sdrawing.
Hoosier Lottery Public Relations Manager Al Larsen introduced Armitage during a ceremony at D & D Star Stop at 1911 U.S. Hwy 50 East in Bedford Wednesday afternoon. D & D is where Armitage purchased his lucky ticket.
Armitage is an Ohio native who moved to Bedford, Ind. from Bristol, Va. less than a year ago in search of a job. The 40-something man found work in Lawrence County as a truck driver and now works at least five, often six, days a week, sometimes as much as 14 hours a day.
As he accepted his winnings, Armitage explained that he has no plans to quit working, but hopes that winning a million dollars might take some of the pressure off his financial situation and reduce the amount of overtime in his future.
With his winnings, Armitage plans to buy himself a Ford truck for Christmas. In the spirit of the Holidays, he also plans to help his family.
“My dad wants to retire in the next year. I want him to be able to retire and not worry about anything,” said Armitage.
Armitage was one of eight players nationwide to match the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number, in the Dec. 17 drawing. He was the only player nationwide who increased the $200,000 prize to $1 million by adding the Power Play for an extra dollar.
The Dec. 17 winning numbers were: 13-28-49-51-59 PB: 33. The Power Play multiplier was 4.
